Passover and Jesus

1. Four Days:

   • The Passover lamb had to be chosen and brought into the house four days before Passover.
   • Similarly, four days before His crucifixion, Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, marking the beginning of the Passion Week.

2. Without Blemish:

   • The Passover lamb had to be without blemish, free from cuts, bruises, or deformities.
   • Jesus, too, was sinless, without any spiritual blemish.

3. One Year Old:

   • The Passover lamb was to be one year old, in the prime of its life.
   • Jesus was sacrificed in His prime, at 33 years old.

4. Male:

   • The Passover lamb had to be a male.
   • Jesus, as the Son of God, came to earth as a man.

5. Everyone:

   • Every household had to have their own Passover lamb.
   • Similarly, everyone must personally accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

6. The 14th Day:

   • The Passover Lamb was slain on the eve of Passover, specifically on the 14th day of Nisan.
   • Jesus, the true Lamb, was sacrificed at the same time the Passover lambs were being killed.

7. Broken Bones:

   • The Israelites were forbidden to break the bones of the Passover lamb.
   • Jesus’ bones were not broken during His crucifixion, fulfilling this requirement.

8. No Leftovers:

   • The Passover lamb had to be consumed entirely on the eve of Passover.
   • Jesus was taken off the cross on the same evening of His crucifixion.

9. First Born:

   • The Passover lamb died in place of the first-born of the Israelites.
   • Jesus, as the firstborn of many brethren, died to reconcile us with God.

10. Blood:

    • The Israelites sprinkled the blood of the lamb on their doorposts as a sign to God.
    • Jesus’ blood, shed on the cross, covers the penalty for our sins.
