Role Title: Webmaster and Web Developer
Location: online
Time Commitment:
- Hours: Suggest 3-6 hours per week, or 12-24 hours per month – adjust based on your needs and what's realistic for a volunteer.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, days/times to be mutually agreed upon.
- Duration: Minimum 6-month commitment requested, with an opportunity for ongoing involvement.

Position Summary
The Volunteer Webmaster is a key technical support role within the Charlottetown Community Church team. This position is dedicated to ensuring our website is up-to-date, secure, and effectively communicates our mission and services to the community. This role directly contributes to our outreach efforts by maintaining a professional and user-friendly online presence. The successful candidate will be organized, tech-savvy, and deeply aligned with our values of community service.
Key Responsibilities
- Website Maintenance & Updates:
- Regularly update website content, including blog posts, event listings, program information, and announcements.
- Ensure all links are functioning correctly and remove outdated information.
- Assist in uploading photos and videos to the website.
- Technical Support:
- Troubleshoot website issues, broken links, or display problems.
- Ensure the website is secure and performing optimally.
- Collaborate with staff to implement minor design changes or new features as needed.
- SEO & Analytics:
- Assist with basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to improve the website's visibility.
- Monitor website traffic using tools like Google Analytics and provide simple reports.
- General Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain organized records of website passwords, plugins, and hosting information.
- Perform backups of the website regularly.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Alignment with the mission and values of the Charlottetown Community Church.
- No other experience needed, will train.
- Preferred (but not required):
- Experience with basic graphic design or image editing.
- Familiarity with website security best practices.
- Understanding of SEO principles.
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress or Joomla.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
- Optional: experience in administrative or office support, ideally in a nonprofit or community-based setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, and general database use.
- Experience handling confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to focus, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of and alignment with the mission and values of nonprofit, community-oriented work.
- Bilingualism (English/Spanish or Asian Languages) is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license and access to transportation may be required, depending on the office location.
Working Conditions
- Volunteer From Home: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–4:30 pm, with occasional evenings or weekends for special events. You could work other shifts if you prefer that.
- Flexitime available.
- Hybrid work arrangements may be considered.
- This role may involve light lifting (event materials, supplies) and front-desk responsibilities.
