Background
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, has been facing a severe housing crisis. The population grew by 25,000 in 2024, with vacancy rates as low as 0.8%, and an urgent need for more than 2,000 new housing units annually to meet the growing demand. The situation has been exacerbated by rapid population growth and a lack of affordable housing options.
Project Overview
Charlottetown Community Church has recognized an opportunity to contribute to the community's housing needs. Partnering with a Canadian property development firm, which hires local contractors, the church plans to construct one or two Multi-storey apartment towers with more than 200 housing units. This project aims to provide affordable housing while supporting the broader goal of increasing residential availability in Charlottetown.

- Retainers: $74,000 for Developer, Construction, Accounting, Legal, Insurance, Compliance, Transportation, Miscellaneous
- Land: $500,000-$2 Million
- Social Impact: Addressing Charlottetown's severe affordable housing crisis, starting with the most vulnerable, the baby boomers, and our seniors. When they move to the new home, their current house or apartment becomes available for other low-income families—helping everyone. When more units become available on the market, rental prices typically become more affordable for the entire area as landlords lower their rent to attract new tenants with more options.
